Town businesses asked to pedal their wares for Tour of Britain

The Tour of Britain cycle race will pass through Alnwick town centre at around 12 noon on Monday 4th September.  This will be a massive event in the town and will attract a large number of spectators and national TV coverage. The route into town will be down Clayport Bank, turning left into Bondgate Within and Narrowgate, then down The Peth leaving the town on their way to Eglingham.

To support the event Alnwick Town Council in partnership with the Alnwick Chamber of Trade have decided to run a shop window competition for retailers in the town.

The competition is to dress your shop window in an appropriate way to reflect the Tour of Britain cycle race. This could be using the Northumberland colours of red and yellow, which are being used as the main colour theme for the event, as your colour scheme or an alternative display of your choice.  The first prize for the best window display will be £100 and two tickets to the VIP area at the start line on the 4th September.  (The start is in Kielder and the tickets have been donated by Northumberland County Council). There will also be two other cash prizes of £50 and £25.

Windows will be judged by the Mayor on September 1st 2017 and winners will notified on the same day. We hope as many people as possible are able to join in with the fun and make Alnwick a real highlight for the riders, visitors and TV cameras.
