As the official period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II draws to a close, the Mayor of Alnwick has thanked members of the public who signed Alnwick Town Council’s Book of Condolence.
Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson said “The residents of Alnwick wrote some wonderful tributes to Her Majesty in our Book of Condolence. It was quite humbling to read them and left no doubt of the high regard and affection our townspeople had for our Queen. Once complete, the Book, which is now an historical document, will be securely archived in Alnwick.”
“On behalf of Alnwick Town Council and our residents, I have sent a letter to King Charles, recording
our sincere condolences, and recalling fond memories of royal visits, particularly when The Queen
came to Alnwick with the Duke of Edinburgh in 2011”
“We have witnessed the end of an era and now must look to the future and accordingly I offered His
Majesty our wishes for a long and happy reign. God Save The King”
