New Alnwick Branch of the Townswomen’s Guild welcomes new members

An Alnwick Councillor has formed a branch of the Townswomen’s Guilds and is inviting local women to join her once a month to enjoy each other’s company, develop friendships and get involved with events and crafts.

Dianne Watson explains: “I was looking to join the WI before covid, obviously that didn’t happen, and then I sadly discovered that Alnwick no longer had a WI branch. I wanted to be part of an active women’s group and as not everyone has transport to take them to existing but outlying groups, I wanted to form a group in Alnwick.”

“The Townswomen’s Guild is one of the largest women’s organisations in the UK, with around 400 branches and 12,000 members – surely it’s time Alnwick has such a group!”

“We have just had our first meeting and it was a success! It was very friendly, and everyone was very enthusiastic about the group. Meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month between 6.30pm until 8.30pm at Weavers Court which is a fantastic facility. There are already 25 members and if anyone is interested in joining, please contact me on alnwicktownswomen@gmail.com
