Spotlight on Alnwick’s wonderful volunteers

What do Hospice Care, Alnwick Lions Club, Girl Guiding and the Border Greenway Trail have in common?

They are just some of the organisations who attended Alnwick Town Council’s Volunteers Fair in the Northumberland Hall.

The event was a showcase for the diverse range of volunteer-based organisations in the town, giving them the opportunity to attract new helpers, as well as
demonstrating to the public the variety of volunteering openings available.

Alnwick Town Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson, said “It was great to see how many volunteer-based groups we have in Alnwick. There was a great buzz in the
Northumberland Hall and the range of organisations was fantastic. There were environmental groups, health groups, and youth-based organisations.”

“Singing, gardening, community service and heritage – there really was something for everyone. And the event demonstrated to me what an amazing community spirit there is in Alnwick.”
