Two days left to show your support for a PlayZone in Alnwick

A local councillor is reminding residents to show their support for an outdoor sports space in Alnwick as the consultation process draws to a close.

Alnwick Community Centre is one of eight potential sites being considered by Northumberland County Council in the first phase of the PlayZone programme. They are looking for locations that match the funding priorities set by Sport England.

A PlayZone is usually the size of one or two tennis courts and can be used for a range of sports and activities. The successful PlayZones will be designed and operated based on feedback from the community.

Councillor Martin Swinbank commented: “This is a great opportunity for the much-used existing MUGA to become a state-of-the-art sporting facility once again but we need to show Northumberland County Council that there is a need for it and that it will be well supported.”

“To that end, I’m asking residents to take part in the online consultation that closes on Friday. It will only take a couple of minutes to complete and this is a fantastic opportunity for the town.”
