It’s been a busy summer for the Mayor

The Mayor of Alnwick began the September meeting of Alnwick Town Council with a report of his activities over the summer period.

As ever, Councillor Geoff Watson was kept busy with civic engagements, and these included several meetings concerning the Alnwick and Denwick Neighbourhood Plan Review. Public consultations were held in July and August and in the coming weeks the Review will be presented to Northumberland County Council.

An art exhibition by students from the Duchess’s Community High School, a meeting concerning the refurbishment of the Bus Station and a meeting at Alnwick Market were also on his schedule and during one of his visits to the town centre Geoff was asked to be a witness to a wedding and was delighted to oblige!

Among his more exciting engagements the Mayor met members of the Geordie chapter of the Harley Davidson owners’ group when they called into town, the community group that look after Moorland Community Orchard and the opening of the NEXT store in Alnwick.

Councillor Watson visited Alnwick Working Men’s Club during their cancer charity fundraising evening and very much enjoyed that too.
