Alnwick & Denwick Neighbourhood Plan Review

Alnwick Town Council, working with Denwick Parish Council, is responsible for the Review.

A steering group has been set up to prepare the Review and topic groups from the Alnwick Partnership have been doing the actual work preparing the plan. We prepared the draft review over the autumn and winter of 2024 drawing on all your comments at the options stage in Spring 2024 and it was published at the end of July 2025 .

Consultation on the plan took place from end July till mid September 2025 and both the community and statutory consultees and other interested groups were encouraged to comment on the draft Review. We received a good range of comments and these have all now been considered by the Steering Group and the proposed response to the points raised is set out on this website under Stage 3 in the documentation section. The amendments to the Review have now been made and it is nearly ready to be submitted to Northumberland County Council to complete the formal stages. These final stages will include a further consultation at the Publicity Stage, an examination by an independent examiner which may result in further modifications before the plan goes to a local referendum where all voters will have the final say on whether it should be adopted as the plan for Alnwick and Denwick.

We hope to reach the stage of submitting the draft Review to the County Council in March 2026, final stages will take another six months after that when the Review should be ready to be adopted.

There is still time to comment at the Publicity Stage later in the spring and of course by voting in the local referendum when that happens hopefully later this year. The Review is your plan and we need your input.
