Final call for public input on the Alnwick & Denwick Neighbourhood Plan review

Residents of Alnwick and Denwick are being urged to attend one of two upcoming public events before the consultation period for the Neighbourhood Plan review closes on 15 September. The Alnwick & Denwick Neighbourhood Plan is currently undergoing review, and these events represent the opportunity for residents, businesses, and local stakeholders to share their feedback before the plan is submitted to Northumberland County Council for its final stages.

Peter Biggers, Coordinator for the Review, expressed appreciation for those who have already contributed but emphasised the need for broader participation. “I’m pleased that many people have already shared their views, but we need many more residents in Alnwick and Denwick to look at the plan proposals and tell us what they think,” he said. “You can view the Review online via the Alnwick Town Council website, or see paper copies at the Lindisfarne Centre, the library, Willowburn, and the Community Centre off Howling Lane.”

He highlighted two forthcoming opportunities for residents to get involved. The first is a drop-in session on Saturday, 16 August, at the Alnwick Playhouse Studio. The second is an “Any Questions” event at the Lindisfarne Centre on Tuesday, 2 September, at 7pm. “Volunteers will be on hand at both events to answer questions. Even if you’re broadly happy with the proposals, please take a moment to leave a comment—this is your plan for your town and village, and now is the time to speak up,” Biggers added.

Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson, Chairman of the ADNP Steering Group, underscored the importance of community engagement. “Your feedback is invaluable as we work together to create a plan that reflects the needs and aspirations of our community. Neighbourhood Plans are formal planning documents shaped by local consultation, giving you a greater say in how our area develops. By participating, you’re helping safeguard our environment, protect our heritage, and shape a thriving, sustainable future for Alnwick,” he said.

The consultation offers residents the chance to directly influence policies that will guide development and protect the character of Alnwick and Denwick for future generations.
