Alnwick lights begin the town’s festive seaon
It seemed as if the majority of Alnwick’s residents descended on the Market Place last night to celebrate the switch-on of the town’s Christmas Lights.
The Duchess of Northumberland thanked the Alnwick Christmas Lights team for their months of work preparing the displays, then watched local youngster Benjamin Elliott switch the lights on.
Alnwick Town Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson said “I congratulate the lights team on this fantastic show of lights and it’s great to see some new displays this year – I’m very impressed with the train at Barter Books. Alnwick Town Council is the proud to support the lights team – after all, it is undoubtedly the best display in Northumberland!”
And then to top the excitement Father Christmas made an appearance! Well done to Alnwick Lions Club for reserving his parking space and helping the elves with crowd control.
