Council support for What a Wonderful World Festival
The What a Wonderful World Trust (WaWW), who are preparing for their 5th annual environmental festival, were delighted to hear that Alnwick Town Council has awarded them a grant of £1000 to help fund their event at the end of June.
Chair of the Council’s Governance and Community Engagement Committee, Councillor Lynda Wearn, said the council “supported the aim of the festival which is to increase awareness of environmental issues and celebrate the natural world, through debate, music, poetry, film and the visual arts. Once again, the Festival promises a wide range of events across Alnwick and beyond, suitable for all ages. We wish them every success.”
Lynda presented the grant accompanied by fellow councillors Andy Hunt and Mayor Geoff Watson.
WaWW founders Liz and Alastair Anderson and Chair of the Trustees Chris Algar are seen accepting the grant at Alnwick Playhouse.
Liz commented “We are very grateful to the Town Council for their continues support. It’s wonderful that we are planning our 5th annual event, and I hope local people will engage with us through our varied programme. We have a panel of speakers discussing how we can all cut our bills and cut carbon, local youngsters are celebrating the beauty of planet earth, there are poetry events, children’s theatre, environmental art and archaeology and music, including acclaimed musician John Boden from Bellowhead – winner of 11 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. And more! We really do have something for everyone.”
The Festival takes place from June 25th – 28th.
Tickets available at Alnwick Playhouse and further information on the WaWW website.
