Neighbourhood Plan Drop-In event: Saturday June 10th 2023

Alnwick Town Council is holding a Neighbourhood Plan Drop-In event as it undertakes a review of the Alnwick and Denwick Neighbourhood Plan that was created five years ago.

Peter Hately, Chief Officer and Town Clerk said “The Review is a big opportunity to make sure we keep the Neighbourhood Plan relevant so that it provides robust guidance to shape Alnwick’s future development. The Plan sets out a vision for the future and details how the locality should grow and change. It is one of the most important documents the council will produce and we are actively encouraging our community to contribute to the review process.”

There have been changes in national planning policy that mean the Neighbourhood Plan needs to be updated in a number of areas to stay up-to-date and of value.

Peter Biggers, a planning consultant assisting the Town Council with the review said, “The idea of the review was trailed at November’s public Alnwick Forum in the Northumberland Hall, where a large number of people showed interest in it.”

“This is the next stage in the consultation and the whole Drop-In event is focussed on the Plan and engaging with the local community. The scope of the plan is vast, covering topics such as housing and employment, the environment, heritage and transport. etc. We are asking people to come along and tell our staff and steering group volunteers what is important to them and their families.”

The Alnwick and Denwick Neighbourhood Plan Drop-In event takes place on Saturday June 10th between 10am and 2pm in the Northumberland Hall.
