STORY FEST: Author Annabella’s top tips prove to be popular

As Alnwick Story Fest got underway today, author Annabella Baker was delighted to pass on advice to people thinking about self-publishing.

Speaking at her workshop in Alnwick Lions book shop she said: “It has been a pleasure to meet people who are wanting to know more about getting their work into print. The most important thing is to write for yourself, write what you want, not what someone else wants. Be brave, be bold and enjoy it.”

“During the workshop I talked about my 3-step process and hopefully this will have encouraged people to publish their own work. I’m looking forward to repeating the workshops tomorrow and meeting even more local writers.”

Alnwick Lion Linden Dodds (pictured with Annabella) said “It’s been great to see more visitors coming into the book shop and being encouraged by Annabella to take the next step…and of course with so many books in the shop we hope they might get some inspiration and buy a book or two while they are here. All the money goes to good causes so it’s a win win!”

Alnwick Town Mayor Councillor Geoff Watson said: “This is the first Alnwick Story Fest and the reports I’ve heard today have been very encouraging – it would be great if it became an annual event and yet another reason for people to come to Alnwick and see what it has to offer. The organisers have done a terrific job ensuring there is something for everyone and the town is busy so I’m sure tomorrows events will be well-attended.”

Tomorrow (Saturday) Annabella’s workshops are on from 10am-12 and 1pm-3pm at the Lion’s Bookshop at the White Swan Hotel.
