Alnwick’s spectacularly spooky Halloween House is set to raise funds for four local charities through its thrilling display which was officially ‘switched on’ tonight.

Charlotte and Leo Watson created the display around their Allerburn Lea home, aided by their own miniature spooks, youngsters Louis and Nico.

Adverse weather over the weekend means the display has been cut short but the community-spirited family are still hoping to raise funds for local charities with the decorations staying in place until October 31st.

Set to benefit from the display are Chameleon Buddies, a charity that supports women following birth trauma and stoma surgery, BoostDCHS who support pupils at Alnwick’s Community High School, Community@NE66 who support youngsters and their families from their base at Alnwick Community Centre and Alnwick and District Food Bank.

Alnwick Town Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson, was delighted to officialy open the display saying “It’s frighteningly good and fantastic at the same time. The whole family have put in an enormous effort to create this wonderful display. On behalf of all the town’s residents – thank you!”

Gill Castle (CEO of Chameleon Buddies) thanked the family for supporting her charity saying Charlotte and Leo put so much effortin to the display, it’s just fantastic!.

Sentiments echoed by Carol Jagger, Community@NE66 trustee who said “It’s just a delight to see the joy on the faces of the youngsters viewing the display – what fun!.”
