Armed Forces Week flag-raising ceremony
Alnwick Town Council hosted a flag-raising ceremony today to mark Armed Forces Week.
Gathering at the flagpole next to the War Memorial, Mayor Cllr Geoff Watson gave a brief address which was followed by a reading from the Royal British Legion and prayers led by Reverend Christian Mitchell.
The Admiral’s Salute was played by bugler Ron Creaey as the flag was raised.
Personnel from RAF Boulmer, veterans, standard bearers and representatives of organisations including Alnwick Lions attended the ceremony.
There will be a brief ceremony to lower the flag on Saturday June 27th at 3.45pm.
