Blooming marvellous young artists

‘Sixty Years of Britain in Bloom’ was the theme for this year’s Alnwick in Bloom children’s’ painting competition.

The young artists and invited guests attended an awards evening in The Alnwick Garden Pavilion.

On behalf of Alnwick in Bloom Tom Pattinson welcomed Alnwick Town Mayor Councillor Geoff Watson, Andy Hunt from sponsors Alnwick Round Table, the prize winning children and their parents.

Margaret Casey (competition organiser) read out the names of first, second and third children in each school section and they came up individually to receive their prize from the Mayor and local artist and judge Katherine Renton who offered her positive comments for each child’s painting.

All placings received a prize with the first prizes winners receiving a pack of twenty postcards with an image of their painting.

Mayor Geoff Watson commented: “I am extremely impressed with the paintings, well done to all the talented youngsters who entered and to Alnwick in Bloom for continuing  to organise this popular annual competition.”
