BOOST and Opera North bring The Marriage of Figaro to Alnwick

Opera North Comes to Alnwick: A Unique Cultural Opportunity for the Local Community

BOOST, the charity supporting students and families at DCHS, is delighted to kick off 2026 with a spectacular cultural event: Opera North will bring The Marriage of Figaro to life on the DCHS stage on 29 January, offering an extraordinary opportunity for students and the wider community to experience world-class opera close to home.

Katherine Williams, Chair of Trustees at BOOST, said:

“For many in our rural area, access to live cultural experiences can be limited by distance and travel. Bringing Opera North to Alnwick ensures that our students and community can enjoy this extraordinary art form without leaving town. It’s a rare and inspiring opportunity for everyone to experience the magic of live opera.”

All GCSE, A-Level, and Year 7 students will enjoy a totally free daytime performance, immersing themselves in one of opera’s most celebrated works.

For the wider community, BOOST is hosting an early evening performance at 5pm.

Tickets are available via www.ticketsource.co.uk/boost, with a suggested donation of £5–£8. Donations support BOOST’s mission to create more cultural opportunities, though attendees are encouraged to give what they can, ensuring accessibility for all.

BOOST is committed to making arts and culture a part of everyday life in Alnwick and surrounding areas. This collaboration with Opera North is a unique chance for the local community to share in a world-class artistic experience that might otherwise only be found in larger cities.
