Council duck joins quackers Alnwick fund-raiser

Meet Daffy the Alnwick Town Council duck!

Daffy is one of more than 85 decorated ducks that will be on show across the town as part of a fun fund-raiser from Alnwick Round Table.

Organisations are invited to buy a duck, decorate it, name it and display it before they all go to The Alnwick Garden where the public will vote for their favourite.

Alnwick Town Councillor Rosie Bush volunteered to decorate the council’s duck, opting for the council colours of blue and yellow, a Mayor’s chain and daffodils – hence the name Daffy. Rosie said “It’s a great way to raise funds and I can’t wait to see how the other ducks have been decorated. Well done to Alnwick Round Table for organising this Easter Duck Hunt – the town has a great community spirit, and I know lots of businesses and groups are taking part.

Alnwick Round Table Chairman Rob Hughes agreed saying “We have a great team here at Alnwick Round Table and in particlular I want to thank Bobby Chapman who has been the driving force with this project. We’ve had a terrific response from businesses and the public and it will be great to see the town full of ducks between March 27th – 29th when all the shops taking part will have their ducks on display. Then on April 2nd we will be collecting the ducks and displaying them at The Alnwick Garden where they will be on show for the weekend which includes our annual duck race down the grand cascade at 2pm on Saturday April 4th. It’s going to be quackers!”
