Council grant hits the right notes for Music Society

Alnwick Town Council is supporting Alnwick Music Society with a £1000 grant as they finalise their forthcoming season.

This will feature concerts from a series of exceptional musicians and include outreach events which it is hoped will attract an audience of up to 600.

Music Society Chairman Mike Alexander said “The overall aims of Alnwick Music Society are to arrange high quality concerts by professional musicians, interest more young people in classical music, provide better listening opportunities for older people and broaden people’s understanding of classical music. This grant from
Alnwick Town Council will help us continue to attract top class professional musicians to our main series of concerts as well as developing further our outreach and educational programme.”

Alnwick Town Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson commented “When considering this application our Recreation and Amenities Committee members were impressed with the society’s outreach work and their engagement with schools and therefore decided to award the grant.”
