Council grant supports boxing academy
The Cyrus Pattinson Boxing Academy is set to keep punching above its weight for another year, thanks to a £1000 grant from Alnwick Town Council.
The funding ensures the academy can continue hosting its structured boxing and fitness sessions at St Michael’s Church Hall, offering training for local youth and the wider community.
Members of the Council’s Governance and Community Engagement committee—Lynda Wearn, Gill Castle and Martin Harrington—recently visited the hall to meet Cyrus and young boxers Lewis Mallaburn and Casey Mole.
“These sessions offer an opportunity for young people to engage in physical activity in a safe and enjoyable environment,” said Committee Chair Cllr Lynda Wearn. “After chatting to the two young boxers here today, it’s obvious they appreciate Cyrus’s positive mental attitude and discipline too.”
