Council support for Family Fun Day
At the recent meeting of the Alnwick Town Council Governance and Community Engagement committee, members agreed to support a fun day organised by Alnwick Round Table that will bring together community groups for a summer celebration.
Councillors heard proposals for the event from members of Alnwick Round Table and voted to award them a grant of £1436.
Committee Chair, Councillor Lynda Wearn said: “The Fun Day organisers aim to bring together community groups, giving them the opportunity to showcase the fantastic work that they do in our town and we heartily endorse that. When the people of Alnwick pull together great things happen and we encourage people to enjoy this summer celebration.”
Adam Lambert from Alnwick Round Table added “We’re absolutely delighted by the support this event has received from across the community. The grant from Alnwick Town Council has been a huge step forward in helping turn this idea into reality. Alongside that, the incredible support from organisations including Alnwick Lions, Alnwick Rotary and Alnwick in Bloom—through sponsorship, advice, planning and getting involved on the day—has shown exactly what can be achieved when our community works together.
On the day, you’ll find a fantastic range of local charities and community groups running traditional village fete-style games, activities and crafts for families. This really has been a community effort from start to finish, and we hope it’s just the beginning of something that can continue to grow for years to come. So come along and join us! Every activity costs no more than £1, with a prize to be won every time. Relax with live entertainment from talented local performers, enjoy some great food and drink, or simply soak up the atmosphere from the iconic lion statues that stand proudly beneath Alnwick’s magnificent Column.
We can’t wait to see you there!
