Heritage Open Days: Freemen invite you to tour the Town Hall
Visit the building which has been the meeting place for the Freemen of Alnwick for over 250 years when Alnwick Town Hall opens its door for the Heritage Open Day scheme.
Booking is not required –you can go along between 10.30 am and 4pm on Saturday September 19th.
Built in 1731 on the site of an old tollbooth, the hall held quarter sessions, county and manor courts as well as being the meeting place of the Freemen of Alnwick. Today, information panels record the various Guilds, along with an exhibit on the story of the building and history of the Freemen.
There will also be volunteers at the Marketplace to give tips, directions and leaflets that will help you make the most of the range of activities and events on offer in Alnwick.
