Mayor’s delight at residents neighbourhood spirit

The Mayor of Alnwick is among the many people who enjoy a picnic, so he was delighted to accept an invitation from the Riverbrook Gardens Peter’s Mill Community Group to their first community picnic.

Riverbrook residents are already connected through an online community page and newsletter, but the Bring Your Own picnic was an opportunity for them to meet in person thanks to the ‘Picnic Plotters’ who ensured every household was invited.

Mayor Councillor Geoff Watson commented “It was obvious that there is a strong neighbourhood spirit already thriving at this relatively new housing development and in a way, history is repeating itself as mill workers and their families would gather here in years gone by for their annual picnic by the River Aln.”
