New Mayor honoured to be elected
At the Annual meeting of Alnwick Town Council on May 12th Councillor Alan Symmonds was elected Mayor for 2016/17 and Councillor George Mavin as Deputy Mayor.
Speaking after his selection Councillor Symmonds said “I must first thank the outgoing Mayor, Bill Grisdale, for all his service to the town in his time as Mayor. Councillor Grisdale had done a lot behind the scenes which should be acknowledged and he should be thanked for his hard work and good humour.
“I must also thank the outgoing Deputy Mayor, Councillor Sue Allcroft, for her service to the town.
“All Mayor’s should be aware of the honour it is to be nominated and elected as Mayor for their town”
The new Mayor added that it would be a busy year ahead including the referendum for the Neighbourhood Plan and delivery of the Community Action Plans. He finished by telling his fellow councillors that Alnwick Town’s Council agenda for 2016/17 would be a busy one.
