The Pinfold – Alnwick’s Secret Garden

Have you seen The Pinfold?

This little garden In the centre of Alnwick offers a wonderful splash of colour at this time of year and a space where you can sit and watch the world go by…

In 2018 Alnwick in Bloom started developing the area as a small triangular shaped informal garden that offers disabled and pushchair access.

Originally The Pinfold’s purpose was to hold any escaped animals when the market was held in town and before the Bloom team stepped in it was a storage area.

The Alnwick in Bloom team have created a self-sustainable all-season garden where currently alliums, poppies and iris are the main attraction.

Earlier in the year hellebores, snowdrops and tulips catch the eye as well as two winter-flowering cherries and a lime tree planted by Magnus Magnusson in 1984.

If you happen to be in the Green Batt/Hotspur Street area of town, why not take a few moments to relax on the bench (provided by Alnwick Town Council) and enjoy this little corner of loveliness!
