Town Council grant supports new sporting club

Members of Alnwick Town Council have awarded a £1000 grant to the newly formed Judo Spirit Academy.

This is the first affiliated Judo club in Alnwick for many years and its founder Joe Savage explains what the grant will be used for: “We will use the majority of the grant to cover our venue hire for the next few months and the remainder will go towards ancillary equipment and the purchase of spare suits for new members. We currently offer classes for youngsters age 5+ and we also run parent and child classes. Judo is a great sport to become involved with – as well as fitness and defence skills it teaches discipline and respect. It’s also great fun – why not come along and give it a go!”

The Judo Spirit Academy meets at Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre and can be contacted through their social media channels or via email at judospiritacademyuk@gmail.com
