Town Council on their marks for the Tour of Britain
The Tour of Britain cycle race will pass through Alnwick town centre on the afternoon of Wednesday 9th September. This will be a massive event in the town and will attract a large number of spectators and national TV coverage. The route into town will be up the Peth then along Narrowgate, Bondgate Within, Bondgate Without and South Road.
To support the event Alnwick Town Council in partnership with the Alnwick Chamber of Trade have decided to run a shop window competition for retailers in the town.
The competition is to dress the shop window in an appropriate way to reflect the Tour of Britain cycle race. This could be using the Northumberland colours of red and yellow, which are being used as the main colour theme for the event, as the colour scheme or an alternative display of choice. The first prize for the best window display will be £100 and two tickets to the VIP area at the finish line on the 9th September. (The finish is in Blyth and the tickets have been donated by Northumberland County Council). There will also be two other cash prizes of £50 and £25.
Windows will be judged by the Deputy Mayor on September 7th 2015 and winners will notified on the same day.
If you are a shop owner or business in Alnwick then we’d love you to join in join in with the fun and make Alnwick a real highlight for the riders, visitors and TV cameras.
