Two new retail units open in Alnwick

The Mayor of Alnwick was delighted to attend the opening of two new retail outlets in Alnwick this morning.

A queue of people eagerly awaited the opening of the new NEXT and Costa Coffee stores at Willowburn Retail Park.

Mayor, Councillor Geoff Watson said “I’ve been looking forward to this opening for months – I am a firm NEXT fan! More stores mean more employment for our residents and that is to be welcomed. I’m sure people from the town and surrounding area will be visiting the store as soon as they can to have a look – and I think they will be impressed. It’s big, bright and the staff are very welcoming.

Store manager Samantha Doidge praised her team which is made up of local people: “We have 30 employees here, and 29 of them come from Alnwick. The team and I look forward to meeting our new customers.”

Regional Manager Mike Barrow added “I’m delighted to welcome NEXT to Alnwick. It’s a great company to work for and we are very proud of our Alnwick store.
