Weed control and local bus coverage among agenda items at Thursday’s Local Area Committee meeting
Do you know about Northumberland’s Local Area Committees?
Northumberland County Council has five Local Area Committees each covering different areas of Northumberland, comprising North Northumberland, Tynedale, Castle Morpeth, Cramlington/Bedlington/Seaton Valley, and Ashington/Blyth.
Their overall aim is to empower citizens, strengthen communities and improve services. Local councillors are involved for each particular area and the meetings are held in public.
Everyone is welcome to attend and regular items include public question time, submitting and considering petitions and Local Services updates. Different venues will be used.
Alnwick is within the North Northumberland Local Area Committee and their next meeting is taking place on Thursday, 27th July, 2023 at 6.00 pm in the main hall of Warkworth Memorial Hall, 40 Castle Street, Warkworth, NE65 OUN.
Chair of the North LAC Cllr Gordon Castle explained that all planning applications are now determined on different days at Alnwick or Berwick, but this next LAC at Warkworth will include three items of particular interest to the local community. The first will have senior officers explaining grass cutting and weed control policy and taking questions. There will also be a presentation on Stronger Shores about coastal protection, followed by a discussion about the plans for improved bus coverage and setting up a Northumberland Bus Board. The meeting will be over by 8pm.
